AHIA Fall 2022 Meeting

Louisville, KY

Louisville: Get a different taste

October 12-14, 2022

As anyone who comes here soon discovers, Louisville is one of the most uniquely authentic destinations on the planet. Welcome to Bourbon City®.

Yes, Bourbon is a spirit that comes in a glass, but it’s also a spirit that defines our culture and compassion, our arts and parks, our creative energy. It’s this kind of spirit that helped created Louisville itself - a city that combines heritage with innovation, authenticity with originality, quirkiness with friendliness in a way that’s completely unique to our region.

We’re an entirely different type of Southern. From boundary-pushing twists on Southern cuisine that have made us one of the “10 Best New Food Cities” in America to our one and only Urban Bourbon Experience™, featuring the world’s only, city-wide trail filled with award-winning micro-distilleries, exhibits, and craft cocktail destinations celebrating America’s only native spirit. And speaking of ONLY…you’ll want to see the home of the Kentucky Derby at legendary Churchill Downs, the iconic Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, and the Muhammad Ali Center in the Greatest’s hometown. And that’s just your first day here.

Optional Wednesday Afternoon Tour

Mint Julep University at the Kentucky Derby Museum

When you're done with this experience, you'll be an expert on Kentucky's famous drink - the Mint Julep! You'll be able to brag to your friends that you graduated from Mint Julep University at Kentucky Derby Museum. But this is no stuffy college class. You and your fellow AHIA members will learn how to make a Mint Julep, and of course, drink it, too. (Cheers!) Learn about the ingredients that make up a julep, find out why we like to "slap" the mint, (yep, it's a thing), and soak up the history of how this beverage became the Kentucky Derby's signature drink. Mix up this cocktail while enjoying a favorite Kentucky dessert – bourbon balls!

Round trip transportations and general admission to the Kentucky Derby Museum are included in your Mint Julep tuition.  The Kentucky Derby Museum is a nonprofit organization that is entrusted to preserve the history and legacy of the Kentucky Derby, the longest continuously-running sporting event in the country dating back to the first Derby in 1875.

General Admission includes:

Wednesday Evening Dine-Around

La Bodeguita de Mima- NULU

Upon arrival to La Bodeguita de Mima you will be transported back in time to 1950’s Cuba. From the moment you set foot inside you will smell the delicious Cuban aromas coming from Mima’s kitchen. Your taste buds will salsa when you feel the love and passion by which the food is prepared daily by Chef Fernando Martinez and Chef Yaniel Martinez.
