Join AHIA: Advance Your Hospitality Law Career

AHIA offers two membership categories designed to support attorneys at different stages of their careers in hospitality law. The application process is entirely electronic. The AHIA Board of Directors carefully reviews all applications to ensure the highest standards of professional excellence within our membership.

Choose the Membership That's Right for You:

General Membership:

This category is for experienced attorneys who provide legal services to businesses, associations, or other legal entities in the hospitality industry. General Members enjoy full voting rights within the organization.

  • Eligibility:

    • In-House Counsel:
      • Active membership in good standing (or voluntary inactive status not reflecting negatively on character or fitness) with at least one state bar association (or international equivalent).
      • At least five (5) years of law practice experience serving as in-house counsel with a hospitality industry entity that operates or owns a hospitality enterprise.
    • Outside Counsel:
      • Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar association (or international equivalent).
      • A minimum of ten (10) years of law practice experience, with at least 50% dedicated to serving hospitality industry clients for the past five (5) years.

  • Annual Dues: $350

Emerging Leader - Associate Membership:

This category is designed for attorneys building their practice in hospitality law who may not yet meet the requirements for General Membership. Associate Members enjoy all the benefits of membership except voting rights.

  • Eligibility:

    • Minimum Law Practice Experience:
      • Three (3) years of law practice experience or one (1) year of experience as in-house counsel for a hospitality industry entity that operates or owns a hospitality.
    • Industry Practice Focus:
      • At least 25% of your legal practice in the past year must have been dedicated to the hospitality industry.

  • Annual Dues: $175

What is the Hospitality Industry?

For the purposes of AHIA membership, the "Hospitality Industry" includes, but is not limited to: hotels, restaurants, casinos, cruise travel, lodging, public places of amusement, and those engaged in the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) industry.
